American pop sensation Britney Spears has been spotted enjoying her vacation in Playa del Carmen. The pop singer has posted multiple pictures of her soaking up the sun on her widely followed social media accounts, calling the destination a “magical place.”
Britney Spears is just one of many celebrities that have chosen to holiday in the Mexican Caribbean this year. Seaside resort towns, including Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum, are not only a hotspot for millions of tourists but also global pop, media, and business leaders who head there for a taste of Caribbean paradise and peace of mind.
The American pop icon is the latest celebrity to visit the area, choosing Playa del Carmen for her annual break. Local media sources say the star has already spent a week enjoying Playa del Carmen’s sunny white-sand beaches. Her vacation is all the more important as it marks a year since Britney has been freed from conservatorship by her father, Jamie Spears.
To celebrate the important milestone, the 40-year-old pop singer took to social media – where she has over 41 million followers – to post revealing pictures of herself on one of the town’s popular beaches. The pictures showed her several striking poses under the Caribbean sun. The post attracted more than a million likes and thousands of comments from devoted fans.
In one of her other Playa del Carmen posts, Britney is seen talking to Justin Bieber, the name of a local pet monkey, who she is seen kissing on one of the tourist avenues. The curious encounter led many to believe that the Canadian pop singer was also vacationing in Playa del Carmen.
In another one of her posts, the singer showcased local artisan shops, as well as scenes from her walks on Playa del Carmen beach. She captioned the post with a simple “Mexico, wicked place,” expressing her heartfelt attachment to the sun-soaked destination, where she has vacationed multiple times.
Local fans spotted Britney walking around and enjoying some of the town’s top attractions and rushed to catch a glimpse of the famous singer. Two young passersby happened to stumble into the celebrity as she was ordering coffee from a local Starbucks and managed to film a few seconds of the once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
The holiday comes at a time when the Mexican Caribbean is soaring in popularity among travelers, including Cancun, which was recently revealed to be the world’s second most popular international destination.
Media reports suggest the pop star is staying at Rosewood Mayakoba, one of the most exclusive and lavish 5-star properties in the area. It’s not the first time the singer has chosen to stay at the resort, and back in April this year, she stayed at the Presidential Suite on her Caribbean vacation. The property is an excellent pick for celebrities, affording unmatched privacy and first-of-the-line amenities.
The pop star’s visit to the Mexican Caribbean will no doubt help the destination promote itself, bolstering its already excellent credentials. Britney Spears has attracted significant attention in the media and tabloids over the past year surrounding her legal situation and social media profiles.
Britney is far from the only big name to vacation in the Mexican Caribbean this year. Back in August, American actress Bella Thorne was spotted enjoying Cancun’s beaches. Appearing in more than 40 commercials and 20 TV shows, the rising star chose the popular destination to catch a break from her busy lifestyle. Bella Thorne also spent plenty of time on a luxurious yacht, where she could sunbathe in total privacy.
