Sargassum season has made its way to the beaches along the Riviera Maya early this year. While it’s not the best news for travelers, tourism still doesn’t seem to be slowing down in the region. If you’re on vacation in Playa del Carmen and notice that the beaches have a little too much of the brown seaweed for your liking, then don’t fret, because the city has tons of amazing outdoor pools that guarantee a day of fun in the sun.

Secrets Moxche, Adults Only – All Inclusive

Recently opened in 2022, the Secrets Moxche in Playa del Carmen has a total of 8 pools, including an infinity pool and a sandy beach-themed zero-entry pool. Definitely no sargassum when you take a dip in these waters!

Other pools here include a rooftop infinity pool, a cenote-style pool, a pool with a sum-up bar and built-in loungers, a relaxing pool with hammocks, and the main pool that offers views of the Caribbean Sea and another swim-up bar to boot.

Your pool day here at Secrets Moxche will also come with live entertainment. According to a traveler who recently stayed at the resort, “there are musicians every two hours who play by the pool all day and they are outstanding.” Another traveler commented that resort guests should get to the pools early in the day to guarantee a spot with a lounger.

Reef 28 Resort Hotel

Travelers can access this scenic rooftop pool in the heart of Playa del Carmen if they’re a guest at the resort or with a day pass. A day pass is pretty affordable here, as it’s only a minimum spend at the restaurant/bar of 400 pesos, so you can chill here all night and into the evening. As a result, it’s one of the most popular rooftop pools in Playa del Carmen!

Guests at The Reef love the pool, and many have commented that it’s one of the best parts of the hotel. “Loved the pool area with DJ.” “The rooftop area is the real selling point, it’s nice and big, pool areas are lovely, service is great, and stays open til pretty late if you like a jacuzzi dip like us after dinner.”
