Security In Cancun

The presence of security officials should not be alarming to visitors because Cancun is a safe vacation destination, and it is because of the dedication to security that it is a safe place to visit.

While crime is not nonexistent in Cancun, it is mostly concentrated in neighborhoods outside of the Hotel Zone and other tourist areas.

This is the result of security officials focusing on keeping criminals out of these areas in order to protect tourists visiting the city.

Other Measures Cancun Takes To Keep Tourists Safe

Security patrols are not the only security measure that Cancun takes to keep tourists safe; and in fact, some pretty high-tech methods of security monitoring are currently being utilized.

There are at least 1,000 security cameras located throughout the tourist destination that are equipped with facial recognition and plate reading technology.

Additionally, over the summer, police began using drones for surveillance purposes as well.

This is why you should always be cautious around strangers in a foreign place, be aware of your surroundings at all times, don’t walk around alone at night, don’t wear flashy jewelry, and never accept a drink from a stranger.

Following these personal safety tips will help ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable Cancun vacation.

Was looking forward to going back. Was there in 2018. Unfortunately, I smoke cigarettes, and will never be going back due to Mexico tobacco policy.
