Puerto Morelos will be home to a new adults-only all-inclusive luxury collection resort.
The Paraíso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya is planning for an opening towards the end of 2024.
The Paraíso de la Bonita
Marriott International and Playa Hotels & Resorts are coming together to create a new resort on nearly 15 acres of the Riviera Maya.
It will have 100 elegant beachfront suites located on a lush Mexican Caribbean mangrove and beach site.
“We are delighted to expand The Luxury Collection’s presence in Mexico and we couldn’t think of a better company to do so than Playa Hotels & Resorts,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer of Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America in a news story about the brand new luxury resort.
Along with the extra-large suites, the property will also host a deluxe luxury spa with more than 21,500 square feet of relaxation space.
It will also have three restaurants, including a sushi and ceviche bar and an amazing 5,000-bottle wine cellar.
As a special feature, the Paraiso de la Bonita resort will feature a unique resort within a resort which will have 10 suites with a special plunge pool and beach access along with an exclusive pool and two dedicated resort restaurants.
Renovation of the Zoetry Resort
The Paraiso de la Bonita is currently known as the AAA Five Diamond Award winning Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya resort which closed for renovation and reflagging in January of this year.
It was previously part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection of luxury resorts.
Stories about the renovation of the property and conversion to the jointly owned Paraiso de la Bonita adults-only all-inclusive resort mention an expected opening date of December of this year.
Luxury Heads South
Puerto Morelos is located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen and the new resort even further develops the small town of about 20,000 into a luxury resort destination in the Mexican Caribbean.
“The demand for all-inclusive luxury products has been growing significantly, and we are proud to lead this transformation,” commented Fernando Mulet, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Playa Hotels & Resorts.
Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya adds to Marriott International’s portfolio of luxury resorts, which includes Almare, a Luxury Collection Resort, located in Isla Mujeres.
Marriott opened its first Mexican Caribbean adults-only all-inclusive resort earlier this year in Cancun with a 450-room hotel renovation.
What Travelers Need to Know
Travelers looking for more adults-only luxury all-inclusive resorts in the Mexican Caribbean will soon have another option when visiting the area.
It also provides another strong brand name with a connection to the Marriott Luxury Collection and the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program.
Tourists will find that the location between Cancun and Playa del Carmen helps them escape the crowds and enjoy a little bit more of seclusion and serenity from being in the Riviera Maya.
While Cancun and Playa del Carmen are great places for a vacation getaway in the Mexican Caribbean, they are quickly becoming victims of overtourism with heavy traffic and large crowds.
The much needed renovation of the former Zoetry resort will definitely benefit the area and property. Reviews on social media travel sites were mentioning the property, once very luxurious, had fallen into disrepair and lost its former glory.
Travelers on those same social media travel sites are optimistic about the rebranding of the resort and what the future holds for the former AAA Five Diamond Award winning resort.
