New Cancun RIU Resort Opening In November Will Have ‘Elite Club’

The much anticipated new RIU resort opening in the Cancun Hotel Zone in November just announced that they will be offering an ‘Elite Club’ option for guests booking at the new property.  This will be a premium option that will give extra benefits to guests who opt in for the added service.  The Riu Palace Kukulkan hotel is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort with more than 400 rooms that will be located on the beach in the main hotel area of Cancun.

The new RIU Palace already has a lot to offer, with 24-hour all-inclusive service that begins as soon as guests step through the door, with a welcome glass of sparkling wine.  Guests will be treated to a breakfast buffet each day and will have access to five different dining spots throughout the day and night, as well as snacks and drinks.  Premium drinks are also part of the all-inclusive service as well, and there are a number of bars throughout the property, including a swim-up pool bar.

With so much already included anyone reading this must be wondering what kind of extras the ‘Elite Club’ offers and if it’s worth it for the price.  And the answer is that it depends on the person and what they are looking to get out of their vacation.  It looks like the difference in price for a three-night stay is around $200 for the dates that we checked at the time, so for those considering the upgrade, this is what to expect.

What guests will get for that extra money, which breaks down to about an extra $67/day, is a premium view, as the ‘Elite Club’ rooms are located oceanfront on the top floor of the hotel, and extra space.  These rooms are over 400 square feet and feature balconies overlooking the ocean.  According to the RIU website, the ‘Elite Club’ rooms will have the best views in the hotel.

Guests who opt for the extra service will be issued bracelets to distinguish them from the rest of the guests when ordering food and beverages.  Other extras included with the ‘Elite Club’ are:

  • A personalized check-in and check-out experience with a dedicated separate line.
  • Premium drink options at the sports bar located on the property.
  • A late check-out option for those that need it.
  • A welcome gift with a letter signed by the manager of the hotel.
  • A welcome bottle of wine or cava upon arrival.
  • An upgraded selection of drinks and snacks in the room’s minibar.
  • A bathroom package with aromatherapy products, bathrobes, and slippers.

This will be the first RIU property that will have this service available as an option for their guests.  Eventually they do have plans to implement the program at other establishments owned by the company.  There are more than 100 hotels located throughout the world that are owned by RIU and the company continues to grow.

All of the RIU hotels and resorts in Cancun are all-inclusive and some great amenities are available to guests without booking the ‘Elite Club’ option.  But for those who want just a little bit of extra attention to detail, when the Hotel RIU Palace Kukulkan is completed and opens its doors on November 26th, that option will be available.
