New Connection From Cancun To Maya Train Station Announced

Last Updated

ADO, a local transportation company, has announced that it will launch more direct bus connections from Cancun to the city’s new Maya Train station.

The announcement comes as officials continue to make progress on the remaining sections of the massive infrastructure project.

The Maya Train officially began operations on December 16th last year amid huge traveler expectations. Since then, it has carried tens of thousands of passengers, with even more set to benefit from the cutting-edge undertaking over the coming months.

A significant number of Maya Train passengers will begin their journey from Cancun’s massive station, which will serve as a starting point for those headed elsewhere in the Mexican Caribbean and beyond.

With that in mind, here’s a look at how ADO’s new announcement will impact visitors in Cancun

ADO To Carry More Passengers To Cancun Maya Train Station

Cancun’s Maya Train station has already opened to the public, although some parts of the station and its surrounding areas are still under construction.

The modern train station will serve arriving passengers from Cancun International Airport as well as travelers in the city’s resort zone.

With connections to Quintana Roo’s main coastal and historical hotspots, Cancun’s Maya Train station will be among the busiest in the region.

However, the huge number of passengers that are expected to use the massive train station has posed logistical challenges for local officials.

Although travelers can reach the new train station from Cancun International Airport thanks to complimentary transfers, arriving tourists have found the new service difficult to use.

This week, ADO, the largest bus company in Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean, revealed more details about its plans to begin selling tickets from Cancun to the city’s Maya Train station.

The bus firm has said that it intends to operate a large number of daily departures on account of soaring passenger demand and that tickets for the new service can already be purchased from ADO’s main bus terminal in Cancun.

The cost for a one-way ticket is approximately seven dollars, offering a huge discount compared to overpriced taxi fares. The announcement also opens up new transportation options for travelers wishing to reach the train station from the hotel zone.

After arriving at the train station, visitors can then make their way to Cancun International Airport or visit a number of destinations throughout the Mexican Caribbean.

Although tickets for the new service can currently only be purchased in person from ADO’s main Cancun terminal, the bus company has said it will launch online sales in the near future, allowing travelers to pre-book their transportation conveniently.

Meanwhile, ADO has also increased frequencies for the Tulum International Airport to downtown Tulum service, providing travelers with more convenient and affordable public transit options.

Combined with delays, confusion, lacking information, and sold-out tickets, some travelers have expressed disappointment over what was supposed to be a hassle-free and convenient railway system.

The Maya Train is expected to become fully operational this February, with the launching of the railway system’s fifth, sixth, and seventh sections.

In the near future, travelers will be able to travel directly from Cancun to places like Tulum and Chetumal, providing affordable means to reach some of the Mexican Caribbean’s main tourist hotspots.

Tickets for the Maya Train can be purchased online on the railway system’s official website. But with skyrocketing travel demand, tickets have sold out at record pace, so travelers are being urged to purchase their transportation well in advance.
