❓ So, What Exactly Is the Maya Pass?

Think of the Maya Pass as your personal, all-access pass for the Tren Maya. It’s a digital ticket that gives you unlimited rides for seven consecutive days on a key stretch of the train’s route.

You can literally hop on and off as many times as you like within that week. See a town that looks interesting? Hop off and explore!

Ready for the next adventure? Just head back to the station and catch the next train. It’s a level of spontaneity that’s been missing for travelers looking to explore beyond their resort.

🗺️ The All-Important Route: Where Can You Go?

This is the most important part! The current Maya Pass is valid for travel along the incredible corridor between Mérida-Teya and Tulum. That unlocks 11 amazing stations, each a gateway to a unique experience:

  • Teya-Mérida
  • Tixkokob
  • Izamal (the famous “Yellow City”)
  • Chichén-Itzá (home to the world wonder)
  • Valladolid (a charming colonial city surrounded by cenotes)
  • Nuevo Xcán
  • Leona Vicario
  • Cancún Aeropuerto
  • Puerto Morelos
  • Playa del Carmen
  • Tulum

With this one pass, you could start your week exploring the grand city of Mérida, visit the iconic ruins of Chichén Itzá the next day, take a swim in a cenote near Valladolid, and still have time for a few days of beach fun in Playa del Carmen or Tulum.

CHICHEN ITZA, MEXICO - Crowds of tourists visit the Kukulkan pyramid at the archeological site Chichen Itza.

It would be a valuale addtion to this article to include a schedule denoting how often the train runs between stations. It may prove more convenient to do single run and not be stranded waiting for a train that only comes through once a day. Hopping on and off to explore a town may not be a possiblity.
