Isla Mujeres, a stunning island that sits just off the coast of Cancun, has plenty to offer in the way of tourist attractions.
It has so much to offer, in fact, that in 2015 it was named a “Magic Town,” which is a town in Mexico that is historically, culturally, or naturally significant.
There are only four Magic Towns, or Pueblo Mágicos, in the Mexican Caribbean.
And now one of the Magic Town of Isla Mujeres’ most iconic attractions, the Caribbean Malecon, has reopened to the public.
The Remodeling And Reopening Of The Caribbean Malecon
The Caribbean Malecon, which is a boardwalk that runs along the Caribbean Sea, was in quite a state of disrepair for some time.
This iconic Isla Mujeres attraction used to be a place where tourists and local families would mingle with each other while enjoying the fresh air and warm Caribbean breezes, and now it will be once again.
The boardwalk is better than ever now, too, with the addition of beautiful sculptures of creatures native to the island to enjoy, new seating, and freshly paved walkways.
It’s also safer, thanks to the addition of new lighting.

A Boardwalk With Epic Views
The Malecon is the perfect place to catch epic views of the stunning turquoise water surrounding the island.
It’s also a fantastic place to view the unbelievable sunsets while visiting Isla Mujeres.

What Makes Isla Mujeres Such An Amazing Vacation Destination
Isla Mujeres is special for so many reasons, which is why it was named a Magic Town and why it’s growing so much in popularity among travelers.

Other Isla Mujeres Attractions
Of course anyone who visits Isla Mujeres has to spend some time on the island’s beaches, particularly Playa Norte, which has been named one of the best beaches in the world.
The Mayan Ruins at Punta Sur Park and the Underwater Sculpture Museum (MUSA) are both fascinating attractions to see too.
Also, a visit to Isla Mujeres is not complete without taking some time to explore the underwater world through snorkeling, and there are many tour options available to do so.

Where To Stay In Isla Mujeres
There are plenty of great places to stay on the tiny little island of Isla Mujeres.
Most of them are smaller boutique hotels that are by no means lacking in amenities or great hospitality.
Rates are similar to those in Cancun and other Mexican Caribbean vacation destinations, ranging from between around $60 to hundreds of dollars a night.

How To Get To Isla Mujeres
To get to Isla Mujeres, you’ll need to fly into Cancun International Airport, which has direct flights from more than 35 different U.S. cities.
From the Airport, you’ll then need to secure transportation to the Ultramar Ferry port, which is about a half hour from the airport.
The ferry ride to the island takes about 15 minutes and costs around $10-$12 each way.

There are two different Caribbean malecons on the isle. The photo and TikTok video show the downtown Caribbean malecon, which was not closed nor renovated...and it's illegal to take golf carts down it. The renovation and new sculptures & lights are at the Caribbean malecon located mid & south-isle, shown in the video with the officials. Sections of it were closed during the renovation.
