If you are planning a trip to the beautiful Riviera Maya this month – you may want to get your vacation accommodation sorted as soon as possible, with reports indicating that hotels in the area are nearly full at the start of March.
According to the State Secretariat of Tourism (Sedetur), during the same week, Isla Mujeres had 74.6 percent occupancy, which is a 2 percent increase from the previous week; Costa Mujeres got 81.1 percent, Tulum had 83.1 percent, Cozumel 83.6 percent, and Grand Costa Maya had 52.8 percent.
The Mexican Caribbean’s tourism is booming, and in particular, during the week of February 25 to March 3, Quintana Roo’s popular tourist destinations reached an average hotel occupancy of 83.6 percent, with Riviera Maya having the highest with 86 percent.
Also, statistics from Hotel Associations, Municipal Tourism Directorates, and the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo show that the highest percentage of tourists come from the US, with a whopping 37.1 percent.
Closely followed by Mexico in second place, with 35.97 percent, followed by Canada with 6.48 percent. Rounding out the top 10 were the United Kingdom, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, France, Brazil, and Germany – and other markets accounted for 9.47 percent of the visitors, showing that the Mexican Caribbean welcomed a total of 454,276 tourists from these countries.

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has expressed that tourism will bring prosperity to all corners of Quintana Roo, improving the quality of people’s lives through great jobs and salaries, and will be prioritized as a part of the New Agreement for Welfare and Development.
