With only a few months to go until the complete launch of the Maya Train, a growing number of travelers are setting their sights on the historical & natural wonders of the Mexican Caribbean.

With that in mind, here’s the latest on Volaris’ new nonstop route to Cancun.

Cancun is set to see a major boost in its international connectivity with the announcement of a new nonstop route from McAllen (Texas) to the coastal hotspot.

The new route was announced this week by the Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris, which carried over 30 million passengers last year.

According to Mara Lezama, the governor of the Mexican Caribbean state of Quintana Roo, the new route is part of a wider strategy to bolster travel to and from Cancun International Airport, the main point of entry for millions of travelers to the sunny region.

The state executive welcomed the announcement, describing it as a ‘new era’ for travel between the United States and Cancun, noting Cancun’s ever-growing arrival figures for American travelers.

Volaris is set to begin operating the route on July 3 this year, just in time for the start of the extremely busy summer season.

For now, Volaris will offer two nonstop flights per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, providing Texas-based travelers even more options to reach the sunny destination.

The new route is the latest addition to Cancun’s growing aerial connectivity with the United States.

With more than 40 nonstop flights to cities across the North American nation, it has never been easier to reach Cancun.

Volaris’ new route announcement coincides with a huge spike in travel demand for Cancun; despite already topping the charts as the most popular international destination for U.S. travelers, demand continues to grow.

That’s especially the case for Cancun, which remains by far the most popular resort hotspot for American travelers in the Mexican Caribbean.

But with the launching of new Maya Train routes this summer to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and beyond, travelers will be able to explore new exciting destinations.

Travelers can already pre-book their flights with Volaris; known for its competitive pricing and amazing deals, Volaris is currently the leading low-cost carrier in Mexico. And with plans to expand beyond the national borders, Volaris is a great alternative to Americans seeking affordable getaways to Cancun.

One-way tickets are currently on sale for as little as $76 per person.

Much like with other low-cost carriers, travelers will have to pay an additional charge for onboard services, as well as for checked-in luggage. With demand expected to soar as summer approaches, now is the best time to book for budget-conscious travelers.

This year, several North American airlines will continue to expand their Mexican Caribbean flight network, including United, American, and Spirit, which have announced new flights to Tulum’s Felipe Carrillo International Airport.

In the meantime, Cancun International Airport continues to break travel records, at times seeing more than 600 daily flights.

The massive airport is just a stone’s throw away from Cancun’s popular resort zone, and the airport’s Maya Train station is already operating on a limited basis.
