With spring break just around the corner, the Mexican Caribbean is gearing itself up for another load of excited American tourists ready for the vacation of a lifetime.

The unbeatable champion of all the destinations in the region is, of course, Cancun.

Not only does it offer the kind of beach paradise that some only dream of, but it also ranks as one of the safest destinations to travel to during spring break, according to travel experts at Travelpulse.

Let’s get into it…

Safety in Cancun

Offering the quintessential spring break getaway, Cancun might feel a bit busier than off-peak times but it will make up for it with award-winning resorts, breathtaking historical and cultural sites, and well-established tour operators helping you every step of the way.

Cancun is tried and tested, meaning millions upon millions of people have vacationed here and know that it is a place that is worth coming back to.

Due to its extreme popularity, especially among American tourists, issues such as safety are taken very seriously, resulting in crime rates staying low in the area.

During peak times such as summer and winter, as well as spring break, officials usually ramp up security coverage and protection by having more patrols on beaches, increased security vehicles in busy tourist areas, and more CCTV coverage, all of which create the perfect sauce for keeping you safe.

The C5 Network

Cancun, in particular, has a mass surveillance system called the C5, which the police force uses to act quickly and efficiently if there is any disturbance or threat in any particular area.

Connecting all CCTV in Cancun to one control center means that criminals are being deterred from acting in any way that could be caught on camera and expose their identity.

Though it might be giving off 1984 vibes, rest assured these increased measures are the reason why so little crime is reported, and while it might take a bit of getting used, know that it is worth it.

Safety Precautions Still Needed

No matter where you travel, there is always a certain level of crime that will exist, regardless of how good security operations are in the area.

Petty crime, such as pickpocketing, is the most reported criminal activity in Cancun and can easily be prevented.

Staying in busy tourist areas and not going “off the beaten path” is always recommended, and traveling in public without flashy watches and handbags is advised.

Always keep your wits about it, and if something doesn’t feel right, then your gut instinct is probably the right one.

Why Is Cancun Perfect For Spring Break?

The list is genuinely endless here because, of course, it is the most tried and tested place to vacation in the Mexican Caribbean.

For starters, the luxury accommodation options are out of this world, with each resort offering bigger and better experiences than the next.

Forget feeling like you’re at your home away from home; live your dream for a while with gourmet restaurants, infinity pools, and luxury spa amenities, all completely at your fingertips.

Cancun is located near some incredible historic and cultural attractions that are a must-visit when you vacation here.

Whether it be Chichen Itza, the most visited historic site in Mexico, which was built over 1,500 years ago during the boom of Mayan civilization, or Xcaret Park, an environmentally friendly, natural adventure park that allows you to swim and kayak, as well as witness the animals and plants that are native to the area, so much fun is to be had around every corner.

And finally, Cancun has one of the best coastlines in the entire region, with sugary white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters that will make leaving when your vacation comes to an end, all that more difficult.

So how about a last-minute trip to Cancun this spring? You’re not going to regret it!
