While steep, it’s still a lot more affordable than other places around the world.

However, it should not come as a real surprise for travelers to Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean.

The area has been a tourist hotspot for the spring holiday travel season for many years now.

How to Save Some Money

Despite the high prices for hotel room nights in the beach resort destination of Cancun, Hopper does have some recommendations on how travelers can actually save some money and get a deal when reserving their room accommodations.

The first important step is for travelers to reserve their rooms early. Waiting costs tourists money when it comes to booking hotel rooms for Spring Break. Visitors are advised to reserve their rooms now for the upcoming spring holiday travel season.

Hopper recommends booking resort and hotel rooms in Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean 10-14 days in advance for the best advanced reservation rates.

However, they say booking at the last minute can also get travelers some great deals if they are not picky about location. This is not recommended in Cancun as most of the time the last minute will mean sold out for visitors.

Travelers should also set price alerts for their preferred resorts and hotels. Lock in a cancelable rate now and have one of the travel platforms watch for price drops and send an alert. Then, visitors can cancel their room and rebook at a lower rate.

Additionally, tourists may want to be flexible and think outside of the box when it comes to a hotel location.

Skipping the beachfront hotel and selecting one more in the city center of Cancun can save travelers some money.

There are several brand new and newly renovated hotels for travelers to explore in the city center and airport areas of Cancun that can be very affordable for visitors enjoying their Spring Break vacation getaway.

Lower Airfares Save Travelers Money

Cancun Airport Filled With Travelers

With Cancun being the most booked international destination in the world by American travelers, tourists need to be prepared for high rates and limited availability of resort and hotel rooms.

However, there are ways for visitors to save a bit of money, starting with the lower airfares over last year.

Starting in March, several airlines from the United States will be flying nonstop to a brand new airport in the Mexican Caribbean – Tulum International Airport.

This will provide additional flights to the region as well as competition with Cancun and Cozumel airports.

While the demand for flights to Cancun remains high, the additional flights are expected to help keep the airfares steady or even lower the airfares, as the supply of flights is about to jump with the same demand.

It will balance out the high room rates travelers will be facing visiting Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean for their beach spring holiday travel season vacation getaway.
