The construction fences are down, the ribbon has been cut, and the first guests are checking in. Today, December 6th, marks the official opening of Hotel Riu Ventura, the newest all-inclusive giant to claim a spot on the famous Cancun Hotel Zone skyline.
For months, travelers have watched the progress of this massive project located on one of the most iconic stretches of sand in Mexico. Now, the doors are open.

Here at The Cancun Sun, we have been tracking the development closely. This isn’t just another hotel; it is a strategic expansion by RIU into a specific family-friendly niche. If you are planning a 2026 getaway, here is everything you need to know about the “new kid on the block.”
The Location: Playa Delfines
The most striking feature of Riu Ventura is its address. It is located directly on Playa Delfines, also known as “El Mirador.”
This is significant. Most of the Hotel Zone is a dense wall of resorts. Playa Delfines is famous for its wide, open views and the lack of high-rises blocking the sun.

- The View: Guests will have uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea.
- The Catch: As we noted in our first look at the project, Playa Delfines is known for rougher waves. While it is stunning for photos and sunbathing, it is not always the calmest swimming beach compared to the northern “7” of the Hotel Zone.
What’s Inside? (The Specs)
This is a “Classic” Riu property, meaning it is designed for high-energy, family-friendly fun rather than the quieter, adults-only vibe of the “Palace” line.
The Numbers:
- Rooms: Over 700 guest rooms, including family suites and swim-up options.
- Pools: A massive pool complex that includes a dedicated kids’ splash park with slides.
- Dining: Five diverse restaurants, including Asian, Italian, and a classic Steakhouse, plus the signature 24-hour sports bar.

The “Riu Party” Connection
While Riu Ventura is family-focused, it isn’t boring. One of the biggest selling points for the RIU brand in Cancun is the “Stay at One, Party at All” concept.
Guests at Riu Ventura will have access to the Riu Party events hosted at nearby properties (like the Riu Caribe). These are festival-level theme parties with neon lights, foam cannons, and professional DJs. As we detailed in our guide to RIU’s popularity, this social connectivity is why the brand has such a loyal following.

The Price Point
Riu Ventura is positioning itself in the “Value Luxury” tier. Opening rates are competitive, designed to attract families who are priced out of the ultra-luxury sector but still want a brand-new facility.
With Cancun vacation costs rising across the board, finding a new resort at a mid-range price point is rare. The introductory rates are expected to be aggressive to fill rooms for the winter season.

Getting There
The resort is located toward the southern end of the Hotel Zone (near KM 18). This means it is closer to the airport than the resorts in the Party Center (Punta Cancun). You can expect a transfer time of roughly 15-20 minutes from Terminal 3. However, as always, we recommend pre-booking your transfer to avoid the “Shark Tank” of taxi solicitors upon arrival.
The Verdict
Riu Ventura is officially open for business. If you want that “new resort smell,” uncrowded pools (for now), and one of the best views in Cancun, this is the place to book for Winter 2026.
