In the all-inclusive resort industry, “Kids Stay Free” is arguably the oldest marketing trick in the book. Typically, when a hotel blasts out an email promising free vacations for your children, it is a classic shell game. They simply inflate the base per-adult rate to covertly cover the cost of the kids, making you think you scored a deal while you actually pay the exact same baseline price.
When the brand-new AVA Resort Cancun launched a massive marketing push this month promoting their “Kids & Teens Stay Free” spring and summer deals, our immediate reaction was skepticism. However, we did the homework, ran the math, and compared the historical data.

For the first time in a long time, we can honestly say this deal is entirely legitimate. (And no, this is not a sponsored post.)
Here is the unvarnished breakdown of exactly what it costs to stay at Cancun’s newest mega-resort this year, how much you are actually saving, and the fine print you need to know before you book.
The Baseline Math: No Artificially Inflated Rates
Right now, AVA is heavily pushing their Spring Exclusive with rates starting at $249 USD per adult, per night based on double occupancy. This means the baseline cost for the room is roughly $500 per night for two adults.
If this were a standard budget property, $500 a night would signal that the kids’ costs were baked into the adult rate. But AVA Resort is a brand-new, ultra-luxury mega-resort where every single room is entirely oceanfront. The property features a 2.8-acre sustainable Crystal Lagoon, 17 distinct restaurants, an arcade, a bowling alley, and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.

For a five-star property of this caliber in the Hotel Zone, $500 a night is the fair market baseline. They have not artificially spiked the adult rate to $400+ per person just to fund the kids’ promotion.
The Real-World Savings
At a premium all-inclusive property, the standard supplement for a child or teen (ages 4 to 17) is typically anywhere from $75 to $150 per night, per kid.
By wiping out those supplements entirely, a family of four is legitimately dodging $150 to $300 a night in extra fees. For a standard five-night vacation, that is well over $1,000 in hard, real-world savings staying in your pocket. Furthermore, AVA is including complimentary private round-trip airport transfers with this specific booking window, which immediately saves you another $120 right out of the gate.

The Resort Credit Caveat
Alongside the Kids Stay Free promo, AVA highlights that you will receive “$200 per room, per night” in resort credit. If you book a five-night stay, that is an eye-catching $1,000 bonus.
This is a genuinely fantastic perk, but to maximize its value, you need to understand how luxury resort credits work in Mexico. When utilizing this massive credit for a premium massage at the spa, a session at the beauty salon, or a round of golf, simply keep in mind that a standard 35% service fee applies to the transaction, payable out of pocket.

So, rather than viewing this credit as free, zero-strings-attached cash, you should look at it as a massive 65% discount on ultra-premium services that you normally would not book. It makes a world-class spa day incredibly affordable.
The Fine Print To Watch
As with any major travel deal, you have to navigate the blackout dates. This promotion is exceptionally generous because it includes older teens up to age 17, but it is completely useless if you are locked into peak holiday travel.
The “Kids Stay Free” promotion is strictly blacked out during Holy Week and Easter (April 2 to April 6, 2026) and the entire Christmas and New Year block (December 18, 2026, to January 2, 2027).
If you are a family of four traveling outside of those major holiday blackout weeks, this is a phenomenal opportunity. You are securing a brand-new, premium $700+ per night family experience for $500 a night, all while keeping the teenagers endlessly entertained at the Crystal Lagoon.
