The opening of the much anticipated Tulum Airport is just around the corner and announcements have been made about various aspects of the future airport.
Which airlines will initially be operating out of the airport, what the on-site Maya Train station will look like, and when operations will begin have all been among those announcements.
But the most recent announcement has revealed that the popular and affordable ADO bus transport service will be available at the upcoming Tulum Airport too.
The ADO Intercity Bus System
The ADO intercity bus system is an inexpensive and convenient way to get around not only Tulum but throughout much of the Mexican Caribbean.
There are three different classes of buses, one of which is pretty luxurious, but even the lower grade, most commonly used bus is comfortable enough.
Taking an ADO bus is inexpensive as well, with tickets from Cancun to Tulum going for less than $20, and tickets from Cancun to Playa del Carmen for less than $13.

ADO At Tulum Airport
ADO will likely operate at Tulum Airport similarly to how it works at Cancun Airport.
In Cancun, there are ADO bus stations in three of the airport’s terminals, so visitors can arrive at the airport and head straight to the bus station.
Because the buses are so popular, though, tickets are known to sell out, so it’s suggested to book in advance, and there is a good chance that it will be just as popular at the Tulum Airport.

Tulum Airport ADO Details Still To Be Determined
While announcements have been made confirming that the ADO bus service will operate at the Tulum Airport, that is the only detail that has been revealed.
According to an ADO representative, Stephanie Martinez, they are still analyzing options regarding routes, fares, and schedules.
She commented that the company cannot currently share “fares, as the airlines have done, or the number of runs we are going to have or the offer,” but that they “are going to have a presence.”

Airlines That Will Operate Out Of Tulum
One of the most exciting announcements that has been made regarding the much-anticipated Tulum Airport is the one that announced the airlines that will initially be operating out of it.
The first airline to launch operations from the airport will be ViVaAerobus.
Following the announcement from the company, Aeromexico also indicated that it would be offering flights to Tulum Airport, including from two U.S. cities, Chicago and San Francisco.
ADO In The Mexican Caribbean Beyond Tulum
The ADO bus service is so popular in the Mexican Caribbean that you can take it just about anywhere.
You can travel from Cancun to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Chetumal, Bacalar, and even as far as Merida and Valladolid, and the best thing is how cheap it is to get to any of these places.
Even to get as far as Merida, a ticket only costs around $24.
The Opening Of Tulum Airport
Tulum Airport is currently still under construction.
Despite only having a few months left, though, operations are set to begin in December.
Tickets are not yet for sale, and flight schedules have not yet been announced for the two airports that will be initially offering service.

Tulum Airport – Not Just For Tulum Visitors
With the availability of the ADO bus service, Tulum Airport won’t just be for Tulum visitors.
Anybody who wants to explore the Mexican Caribbean can choose to fly to Tulum and take an ADO bus to their destination.
This gives travelers a second option, in addition to the busy Cancun International Airport, when visiting the Mexican Caribbean.
