Tulum has grown massively in the past several years, going from a quiet fishing village to a world-renowned paradise retreat. And that wouldn’t have been possible without resorts that match the area’s beautiful aesthetic.
There is a steady but seemingly endless stream of fantastic new accommodation opening across the destination, from all-inclusive resorts to boutique hotels.
And while they all have something to offer travelers, none of them can hold a candle to this amazing new adults-only resort.
MILAM
This unbelievably well-designed and eco-friendly resort opened its doors in May 2023.
And even without a huge public launch or the financial might of the big hotel chains and their PR departments, they are already booked up several months in advance.
This effortless and instant popularity is pretty unheard of in the hospitality industry, a sector where heavy competition and a reliance on past guests’ first-hand reviews can make the birth of any resort difficult.
But MILAM has bucked that trend and already made a huge splash in Tulum.
Made For Tulum
Unlike the super popular destinations of Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Tulum has built its popularity on offering travelers a more personal and bohemian vibe.
Boutique hotels and small quirky resorts are the heartbeat of this destination. While there are many great all-inclusive resorts here as well, they tend to steer clear of cookie-cutter accommodations elsewhere in the Riviera Maya.

In Tulum individual and alternative design is the name of the game.
Something that describes MILAM perfectly, this eco-conscious resort has been carefully planned from the first brick to the last door handle to blend in with the awesome nature here.
Looking at the images it’s difficult to work out which came first, the resort or the jungle. An achievement that can’t be praised enough!
Less Is More
The design of the MILAM is clean & green. The suites are stunningly beautiful, and many feature ceiling-to-floor windows with up-close vistas of the thick jungle that lives amongst the buildings.
A perfect example of how to provide luxury without going to extremes in design, even the color scheme here breathes life into the weary.
Amenities Designed To Destress
The setting alone at MILAM is enough to bust the stress out of even the most overworked traveler.
Add to that the amazing yoga area (with daily classes), as well as the fantastic on-site spa, and stress becomes a distant memory.
Tulum is full of fantastic nightlife spots, and sometimes travelers appreciate having a more laid-back vibe when they are spending time in their resort.
And while there are no loud and crazy dancefloors in the MILAM, it does have a brilliant artisanal bar named The Kinky Room which serves delicious cocktails made from Mezcal and Tequila.
During the day travelers aren’t left without options, the superb pool bar is available to keep guests hydrated while enjoying the 430 ft long pool (the longest in Tulum).
Every Taste Is Catered For
Unsurprisingly, the food at the MILAM is top quality. A focus on fine dining and a dedication to catering for guests of all dietary requirements is super welcome.
Mediterranean, traditional Yucatan, and Mexican cuisine as well as some of the best fresh seafood in the country is available in the beautiful on-site restaurant.
Vegan and vegetarian options are bountiful, and care has been taken to ensure no one misses out on a beautiful meal every night of the week.
Breakfast is no less impressive, with a high-quality buffet on offer each morning.
How To Book
If the opening month of MILAM is anything to go by then travelers will need to plan well in advance to stay at this outstanding resort for the foreseeable future.
The MILAM is listed among many of the usual suspects in international hotel booking sites. But currently, no availability is listed until as far away as November 2023!
And on top of that, part of December 2023 and most of January 2024 is also already booked up.
For travelers happy to plan ahead, a stay at the MILAM in Tulum comes in at $830 per night.
Far from a budget choice, but with this level of luxury and the insane demand already in place the cost per night isn’t surprising.
