Playa del Carmen has welcomed a new trendy hotel from Marriott’s Aloft brand just in time for the new year, right in the heart of the city. The entire Mexican Caribbean has grown exponentially in popularity over the last couple of years, and many hotel chains are developing new properties in the region, including Playa del Carmen. This latest addition is sure to be loved by many and is a great option for those hoping to stay near Playa’s famous 5th Avenue.
The new Aloft Playa del Carmen is the third hotel with the Aloft name to open in the Mexican Caribbean region, which includes places like Cancun, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen. It is part of the Marriott Bonvoy family and is a brand known for its practical, modern design. It has 167 rooms and suites and is located near Playa del Carmen’s famous 5th Avenue, which is currently in the process of being renovated to make it even more welcoming.
Playa del Carmen’s 5th Avenue, or Quinta Avenida, is the most popular area of the city and is filled with bars, restaurants, shops, and entertainment. There’s even a Mayan ruin hidden along the busy street. Connecting to 5th Avenue is another popular street, 12th street, that is frequented by tourists visiting Playa del Carmen as well. Here bars and clubs line the street, including the famous Coco Bongo, and the area is known for its nightlife.

Aloft has many of the typical hotel amenities you’re used to, like a fitness center, two pools, a game room, a gift shop, and a convenience store. However, the Aloft property also offers some amenities unique to the brand. Camp Aloft provides kids with something to do during their stay and gives parents a break when they need it, and the Live Aloft venue features live musical performances and even showcases local musicians.
Aloft’s proximity to famous streets like 5th avenue and modern and tech-friendly design make it one of the trendiest new hotels in the area. Aloft is only a 10-minute walk away from Playa del Carmen Beach, which provides great opportunities for snorkeling, with coral reefs located not far out from the beach and giant sea turtles often nearby. Even more adventures await nearby because the city is close to a number of cenotes, the jungle, underground caves and rivers, and some of the most amazing Mayan ruins in the world.
The Mexican Caribbean has become a hotspot for international tourists, and out of the many places you can go, Playa del Carmen is one with a lot to offer. It has beautiful beaches and a long list of amenities that you’ll find in busier destinations like Cancun but with smaller crowds and a more laid-back beach vibe. It is these features that make it one of the most popular Mexican Caribbean vacation destinations that will continue to add trendy new properties like the new Aloft Playa del Carmen in the future.
