Cancun has been getting excessive heat in recent weeks and is actually approaching the fourth heat wave of the year already.
Temperatures have been steadily reaching as high as 90, and even higher on some occasions, which combined with the high humidity, feels much hotter.
The hot temperatures might make you want to avoid spending so much time out in the sun on your Cancun vacation.
And there are five fun things to do if you’re visiting Cancun during a heat wave this summer.
Summer In Cancun
Summer is a great time to visit Cancun, even if it is the hottest time of the year.
Crowds are smaller, hotels and flights are cheaper, and usually, there’s perfect beach weather.
But for the times when you want to skip the beach because it’s just too hot, there are plenty of ways to beat the heat.

Visit A Cenote
Cenotes, which are naturally formed limestone swimming holes, are typically shaded by either trees or cave walls, so they are perfect for avoiding a lot of sun.
They also maintain a temperature of between 75-80 degrees throughout the year, so they are a great way to cool off too.
There are hundreds of cenotes only minutes from Cancun, and plenty of tours are available for exploring them.

Have A Spa Day
With all of the luxury all-inclusive resorts in Cancun, there is no shortage of spas, and your hotel will likely have one.
Pampering yourself with a little hydrotherapy and maybe a massage will get you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated while avoiding the heat.
This is a particularly nice way to end a long vacation, but a spa day is really good any time.

Enjoy Some Resort Activities
Most of the all-inclusive resorts have a lot to offer in the way of resort activities that can keep you busy on hot days during your Cancun vacation.
In addition to onsite activities like pool parties, entertainment, live music, and fitness classes, many also offer excursion-like activities too.
Scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, and other water activities allow you to get outdoors but still stay a little cooler.
Go On A Shopping Spree
Believe it or not, shopping in Cancun isn’t all souvenirs; there are actually some great places to shop for yourself.
Luxury Avenue is known for its collection of high-end stores like Hermes, Rolex, Cartier, and Salvatore Ferragamo.
So if you feel like treating yourself to something special while on vacation and you want to spend a day away from the heat, this is the place to go to do it.
Spend The Day Visiting Museums
You might not think of Cancun as being the place to go for museums, but there are actually some interesting ones to visit in the city.
At the Maya Museum of Cancun, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the Mayan people without having to leave Cancun.
And there are some more touristy museums, like the Wax Museum and the 3D Museum of Wonders, where the air conditioning can give you a break from the heat and you can have a little fun.
Making The Most Of Your Cancun Summer Vacation
Cancun is a beach vacation destination, so you will definitely want to spend some time on the beach.
But staying safe in the heat is important.
Fortunately, there is plenty to see in Cancun so that you can enjoy the best of both worlds and have an amazing Cancun summer vacation.
