As summer approaches, more and more travelers are starting to look for the perfect destination to spend their holidays in the Mexican Caribbean.

Many will be opting for Costa Mujeres, an idyllic beachside community just north of Cancun.

With skyrocketing booking numbers, Costa Mujeres is quickly becoming one of the hottest destinations thanks to its calm, powdery white-sand beaches and award-winning hospitality.

Find out why travelers are crazy about this resort hotspot:

Costa Mujeres Gaining Popularity Over Cancun This Summer

There’s little doubt that Cancun will remain the most popular resort destination for most travelers.

However, its fame comes at a cost – and quite literally. With many resorts having just a handful of rooms available, prices are soaring, with average rates rising by up to 25% compared to previous years.

As Cancun’s resorts quickly fill up, travelers are looking for more affordable – but equally good – options, and Costa Mujeres just happens to fit the bill.

This idyllic resort destination is located just 20 minutes north of Cancun’s bustling resort area and offers all the charm of the city’s famous beaches without crowds.

The busy spring season, which just wrapped up, was one of the best on record, with nearly 90% of all hotel rooms sold.

Despite the great news, the destination is poised to become even more popular over the summer as Costa Mujeres continues to improve its reputation as a leading resort destination.

According to the Costa Mujeres Hotel Association, the coastal resort area has seen its popularity grow over the year.

It’s home to a handful of stunning all-inclusive resorts, including the top-rated Excellence Playa Mujeres, and nearly all properties feature stunning views of the azure Caribbean waters.

Compared to other resort hotspots, Costa Mujeres feels more secluded and peaceful, making it the ideal location for a relaxing couples-only or family retreat.

Costa Mujeres is dotted with numerous beaches, such as Playa Amada, lined with luxurious all-inclusives, beachside restaurants, and an array of fun aquatic activities that are perfect for the whole family.

Local officials in the tropical destination have made keeping beaches in tip-top condition a priority, and Costa Mujeres has seen far less sargassum than other Mexican Caribbean hotspots like Playa del Carmen or Tulum.

Costa Mujeres is an excellent location to enjoy some of the must-see sights of the Mexican Caribbean.

Despite its laid-back atmosphere, travelers can enjoy a range of family activities, such as the Delphinus Playa Mujeres aquarium, as well as tours and excursions to nearby Isla Mujeres.

Travelers can also enjoy some of the best spas and high-end restaurants in the area, and Costa Mujeres is also famous for its quaint gated communities that offer unparalleled safety and comfort.

Visitors looking for the ultimate pampering experience can enjoy a break at Zentropia Palladium Spa & Wellness Costa Mujeres, a 4,400 square meter spa where nature meets relaxation.

It’s also got an abundance of Mayan archeological sites, including the famous El Meco Archeological Site, which has some of the tallest ancient structures in the area.

Entry costs just $5 per adult, making this one of the most affordable locations to discover the riches of the Mayan civilization.

Costa Mujeres is constantly attracting new investments, and the announcement to build up to 2000 new hotel rooms over the coming years is expected to propel the neighborhood’s popularity to new highs.

Even as more resorts are built, Costa Mujeres will remain far less compact compared to Cancun or Playa del Carmen, which currently house more large resorts.
