You can Fly Nonstop To Tulum Starting This Month From These 7 Cities In The U.S. and Canada

If you have been following the recent headlines coming out of the Tulum International Airport, you know it has been a turbulent few weeks.

With major legacy carriers and budget airlines like JetBlue, Aeromexico, and Volaris recently pulling back or entirely suspending their operations due to steep operating costs, travelers and local hoteliers alike have been left wondering how the winter travel season would pan out.

Fortunately, the airport is finally getting a much-needed injection of incoming flights just in time for the peak holiday rush.

Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, recently announced a massive push to strengthen Tulum’s international air connectivity.

Starting at the end of October, a wave of highly anticipated seasonal flights from the United States and Canada will begin touching down at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport. While government officials have teased a total of 10 incoming seasonal connections, the exact schedules for seven specific airline routes across five major North American cities have been officially confirmed and loaded directly into booking systems.

Here is exactly where you can fly direct to Tulum this winter, which airlines are operating the routes, and when the planes actually leave the tarmac.

The Canadian Winter Migration

It is no secret that Canadian travelers flock to the Mexican Caribbean the second the temperature drops up north. To meet that massive winter demand, three of Canada’s biggest airlines—Air Canada, WestJet, and Air Transat—are launching aggressive direct routes straight into the Tulum jungle.

From Toronto (YYZ):

Travelers flying out of Ontario’s primary hub have the absolute best connectivity on the board, with three different airlines battling for passengers on this route.

  • Air Canada: Operating one weekly flight every Sunday, running from October 25, 2026, through April 11, 2027.
  • Air Transat: Operating one weekly flight every Sunday, running from October 25, 2026, through April 18, 2027.
  • WestJet: Operating two weekly flights every Thursday and Saturday, running from October 31, 2026, through April 24, 2027.

From Montreal (YUL):

  • Air Canada: Operating one weekly flight every Thursday, running from October 29, 2026, through April 8, 2027.

From Calgary (YYC):

  • Air Transat: Operating two weekly flights every Thursday and Saturday. This route officially kicks off on October 29, 2026.

From Quebec City (YQB):

  • Air Transat: Operating one weekly flight every Sunday, officially launching on October 25, 2026.

The United States Connection

While the Canadian market dominates the early rollout of these newly detailed routes, the United States is still holding a critical spot on the seasonal arrivals board.

From Newark (EWR):

For East Coast travelers looking to escape the brutal mid-winter slush, United Airlines is stepping up to provide direct access to the southern Riviera Maya.

  • United Airlines: Operating two weekly flights every Thursday and Sunday. This is a highly targeted holiday and mid-winter route, running strictly from December 17, 2026, through January 24, 2027.

What This Means For Your Travel Strategy

If you are planning a trip to Tulum, Akumal, or Bacalar this winter, these new nonstop routes represent a massive logistical win. Landing directly at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport completely eliminates the need to fly into Cancun and endure the frustrating, traffic-heavy two-hour drive south down Highway 307.

However, because the overall pool of airlines operating out of Tulum has shrunk over the last few months, these specific seasonal routes are guaranteed to sell out incredibly fast. With only one or two flights per week on most of these itineraries, the seat inventory is severely limited.

If you see a flight date that aligns with your vacation schedule from Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, or Newark, do not wait for the prices to drop. Lock in your airfare right now, because once the snow starts falling, these direct flights to the beach will be impossible to find.
