Known for its beach life, nightlife, breakfast smoothie bowls, and the relatively easygoing lifestyle that it provides for many international tourists, Playa del Carmen continues to grow as a tropical vacation destination.
For many travelers, there’s just something about this city that fits.
One of the best ways to experience the vibe of this city (and escape that blazing heat) is to spend an unforgettable evening at a rooftop bar.
With margaritas aplenty and innovative designs, there are so many spots in Playa that are made to impress.
Want to know a bit more?
Here are some of the best rooftop bars in Playa del Carmen for an incredible night (or an entire day and into the night!) out.
Calle 12 Norte, Thompson S/N, Centro, Playa del Carmen
Right between 10th and 5th Avenues on the hip and happening Calle 12 is the Alessia Rooftop. Managed by Thompson Hotels, this is one of the most popular day clubs to hit up in Playa del Carmen if you’re looking to mix fun, style, and relaxation.
Complete with a swim-up pool, you can enjoy the live DJs mixing the best tunes all day while sipping on their signature cocktails. There’s bottle service as well if you’re bringing a big party with you!
And just one floor up, you’ll find Cinco, a chic spot that made our recent list of the most Instagrammable rooftop restaurants in Playa del Carmen.
The Reef 28 Rooftop Bar
1a Avenida Nte & Calle 28 Nte, Gonzalo Guerrero
Located just a block from Playa Mamitas, a sundowner at The Reef 28 might just be what you need after a day at the beach.
The rooftop at this adults-only luxury hotel is your go-to lounge (hello, infinity pool!) by day and hip rooftop bar and club by night. If you’re not staying at the hotel, there’s a minimum spend of 500 pesos (food and/or drink) during the week and 700 pesos from Friday to Sunday.
Be Roof at Be Playa Hotel
Calle 26 between 5th & 10th Avenues
Right in the heart of things in Playa’s Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood is the Be Roof. Located on the fifth floor of the Be Playa Hotel, you can come here for a day chill or in the evening to enjoy tasty cocktails and amazing views with your friends. The rooftop is open from 10 am to 11 pm, and the pool is available from 10-8 pm for non-hotel guests.
The minimum spend here is on the lower end at 300 pesos, so you can still enjoy the rooftop if you’re traveling on a budget. There’s a pretty extensive menu of a mix of signature and classic cocktails, not to mention some refreshing smoothies.
Deck 5 Pool and Skybar
Calle 8 Nte 876, Centro, Playa del Carmen
Set in the WE Uniq Hotel, the Deck 5 Pool and Skybar is one of the best rooftop bars in Playa del Carmen.
The property is right along the beach, so you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the water (not to mention that calming Caribbean sea breeze) while sipping your margarita.
There are also some inventive cocktails to choose from on their menu, like the Carmen Colada, Beach Views Cooler, and Caribbean Twilight. Delish! Their cocktail menu is the most budget-friendly of the rooftop bars on this list.
10 Avenida Nte, Centro, Playa del Carmen
Head to Centro, and you’ll find one of the best rooftop experiences in town at the Fives.
Set on the sixth floor of The Fives Hotel Downtown Playa del Carmen, this stylish rooftop is complete with an infinity pool and great cocktails to boot, not to mention the restaurant on-site that serves up a mix of international and Mediterranean cuisines.
Guests recommend their exquisite seafood ceviche, so come here with an appetite. The DJs start spinning when the sun goes down, so get ready for an amazing evening here at The Fives Rooftop.
