When it comes to a vacation in Cancun, there’s a lot that contributes to its status as one of the hottest destinations on the planet. Of course, its multitude of Blue Flag beaches, exotic local cuisine, and thriving nightlife scene are well loved- and with good reason – but there’s another thing that Cancun does so much better than most destinations on the planet. Cancun provides a hospitality service that really makes your stay unforgettable.
Whilst the start of vacations can be quite hectic in Cancun, once you’ve navigated your way through the airport’s “shark tank” to the taxi zone and to your hotel, that’s when your stay in paradise really begins. Whether accommodating your requests to make your stay that little bit more special or simply treating you like a member of the family, Cancun’s hospitality staff are really up there with the best in the world – and here’s a look at why they are amazing.
Best In The Business – Information For Travelers
With its high hotel occupancy rates and record flight activity in and out of its airport, Cancun is truly one of the world’s hottest destinations right now. With flights coming and going from dozens of countries around the world, the appeal of the charming coastal city knows no bounds as travelers from every corner of the globe look to get a piece of Cancun during the record-breaking high season. Regardless of where they are coming from or what they plan to do when here, one thing is for certain – they’re guaranteed to be well taken care of.
That’s not just an opinion – it’s almost certainly a fact. Hotels, spas, and resorts throughout Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean have been nominated for and even won awards in a series of different travel awards ceremonies over the past couple of years, winning hospitality-centered awards such as Leading Family Resort and recognition for top spa services, proving it is amongst the best when it comes to providing top-level hospitality services.
It’s not just the experts who feel this way, but the millions of travelers who pass through Cancun each year. A cursory glance through the review pages of several of the city’s more well-known resorts finds comments littered with nothing but praise for their hospitality staff. As travelers, we know that posting a negative review is often much easier and much more common than posting a positive one, and so seeing such praise for Cancun’s hospitality staff all over the internet must mean they are seriously impressing travelers.
Here are just a few examples pulled from Tripadvisor reviews highlighting the next-level service you can expect while in Cancun:
“I can’t thank the staff enough that night: Alexander, the chef; Luis our waiter; Alfredo the manager; Yamir Chan, the assistant to Luis; Nayely, the greeter; and Miguel the bartender who made the best rum and diet coke at the resort. The entire team treated us like royalty!-susieo22767, regarding Moon Palace The Grand – Cancun (Tripadvisor)
I would definitely go back!”
“This entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and like FAMILY. We will miss them all & are so thankful for the hospitality. We came for a beautiful beach wedding and this staff was so accommodating to our large group.”-WorkHardTravelOften8 regarding The Westin Resort & Spa, Cancun (Tripadvisor)
Aside from reviews online, travelers who have been to Cancun can also attest to its hospitality staff being some of the warmest and friendliest in the world. From the concierge to the reception staff, bell boys to maids, each staff member you encounter during your stay will greet you with a warm, friendly smile and are truly willing to go the extra mile for you. Whether it’s recommending or booking a restaurant or simple touches to make your stay comfier, if they have the power to do it, you can consider it done.
Whilst there are the occasional news stories that highlight some of the more negative behaviors of hospitality staff in the city, such as items being stolen from travelers’ hotel rooms, such instances are a rare occurrence. Considering the vast numbers of travelers heading to the city every year and the scarcity of such stories, travelers can rest assured that their belongings are safer in Cancun than they are in most destinations in Cancun – and, indeed, the world.
We’re not the only ones who agree. The president of the Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres Hotel Association, Jesús Almaguer Salazar, also talked up his staff during the week, claiming that they had “better service because our people are much more professional and capable”. Whilst staffing issues may have a slightly detrimental effect on service this high season, you can pretty much guarantee that service will still be professional, capable – and always with a smile.
