Playa del Carmen is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, and for good reason.
Like Cancun, it has beautiful white sand beaches with crystal clear aquamarine water, a vibrant nightlife, plenty to do, and no shortage of great hotels.
If you plan to visit the destination soon, you’ll have one more hotel option too, as a new luxury Kimpton Hotel is coming to Playa del Carmen this year, the Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park.
The hotel will be unlike any other in Playa del Carmen, so let’s take a look at why it’s so special.
The Hotel
The hotel at the new Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park will consist of 255 accommodations.
They will include beautifully designed, spacious suites and villas.
While booking is not yet open and an exact opening date has not been provided, the hotel is set to open this year, according to IHG, which is the company that owns the Kimpton Hotels brand.
The All-Inclusive Amenities
One of the most exciting features of the Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park is that it will be the brand’s first all-inclusive hotel.
This means guests will be able to enjoy all-inclusive amenities when visiting.
Some of those amenities include dining at 11 unique restaurants, various water sports, a kid’s club, and activities throughout the massive property.
The Nature Park
The resort’s nature park will undoubtedly be its biggest claim to fame.
It will span more than 300 acres with not one, not two, but three freshwater rivers running through it.
It will also have 10 cenotes that guests can take a dip in, and a flourishing tropical forest to explore.
Throughout the 326 acres, guests will be able to see more than 200 species of plants and animals, providing visitors with a fascinating nature experience.
The Property
Aside from the massive nature park, the rest of the hotel property will have much to offer as well.
In addition to private beach access, guests will also be able to enjoy five pools to swim in.
The Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park will also have a world-class spa to unwind in after a long day of exploring.
The Kimpton Brand
While this is Kimpton’s first all-inclusive resort, it is a well-known hotel brand with over 25 hotels in 20 different destinations in the Americas.
The company already has a presence in Mexico, with properties in Mexico City and one already in the Riviera Maya region, the Kimpton Aluna Resort in Tulum.
On a global scale, Kimpton operates more than 60 hotels throughout the world.
Nearby Attractions
While the Kimpton Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park will be an attraction all its own, there is plenty more to explore throughout the Riviera Maya region.
Playa del Carmen is only steps away from some of the most fascinating Mayan archeological sites in the region, including the Tulum ruins and the world-famous Chichen Itza.
It’s also home to one of the region’s best adventure parks, Xcaret Park, where you can enjoy more than 50 attractions.
Getting To Playa Del Carmen
Getting to Playa del Carmen has never been easier.
You used to have to fly into Cancun and then pay for expensive transportation to make the hour-long journey to Playa del Carmen.
Now when you fly into Cancun, though, you can hop on the Maya Train and pay less to get there and get there faster than you could before, which is one more reason, in addition to exploring this unique new hotel, to visit Playa del Carmen.
