So we know that the bustling bar and nightlife of Playa Del Carmen or the overwhelmingly popular city of Cancun might not be to everybody’s taste, especially if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation.
That is why Puerto Aventuras might just be the perfect place to visit for your next trip.
Mixed with tropical beauty and some incredible beaches, Puerto Aventuras offers fantastic outdoor water activities such as fishing and snorkeling, as well as archeological zones and ruins right on its doorstep, and is especially going to capture the attention of tourists who are looking to keep busy and entertained.
Still an extremely popular destination for visitors to the Mexican Caribbean, the location has seen some controversy recently from its residents, who have imposed certain restrictions on the area in an attempt to keep it a peaceful and relaxing place to visit.

By cutting schedules, prohibiting the playing of music in stores, reducing recreational spaces, and setting visitor hours to bars and restaurants with a curfew of 9 p.m., there has since been a slight drop in the number of tourists coming to the destination.
While this may seem burdensome to some tourists, and moreover, slightly too extreme, Puerto Adventuras knows that it is a place for people who like to live in peace and surrounded by nature, and is sending out a clear message to those who want exactly that from their vacation: this is the place to come!
Getting There
This charming, unknown area is only a 20-minute drive south of Playa Del Carmen and around 50 minutes from Cancun International Airport.

While this small town is considered “off the beaten track”, getting there is relatively easy, with options to taxi, hire a private car, or even take the bus.
If you have booked accommodation in advance, most hotels will offer transport arrangements to help bring you to the secluded spot!
History And People
Puerto Aventuras is actually a newly built town surrounded by lush tropical jungle and crystal clear marinas.
The area started as just a small village with a few stores, a school, and a church and has now grown into an upscale, charming port town with yachts and fishing boats creating its own mini-skyline around the stunning marina bays.
Home to many expats from America, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, as well as Mexican locals, the people here are known for being warm, friendly, and hospitable (so long as you enjoy the peace and quiet just as much they do).
What To Do
Puerto Aventuras is the perfect place for families who don’t want to run out of fun things to do.
Of course, the town has some beautiful beaches, such as Xpu-ha Beach, Chan You Yum, and Fatima Bay, which are certainly worth checking out and are perfect for snorkeling and water activities.
The area is also home to a couple of Ecoparks, such as Knatun Chi and Santuario De Los Guerreros, which offer some incredible underground rivers and cenotes to pass through and swim in, perfect for any lover of the tranquillity that nature brings, as well as the stunning natural architecture that is formed by the stalactites.
Being so close to other popular areas in the region, Puerto Adventuras acts as a great base if you want to check out the infamous Tulum coastal ruins.
One of the most visited archeological zones in Mexico, these structures are believed to have been inhabited as early as 564 and sit on the seaside cliffs of Tulum, creating an incredibly picturesque landscape that has been capturing the imagination of visitors for years.
Once all of your exploring has built up your appetite, Puerto Aventuras has quirky eateries and fine dining experiences around every corner, meaning you will not go hungry on this trip.
And so, with your day being jam-packed with every sort of fun, unique activity and topped up with some good food to finish, you’ll find yourself not bothered by the peacefulness and quietness of the evenings; you’ll already be tucked up in bed and ready to go again tomorrow!
