In the debut edition of the ‘World’s 50 Best Hotels’ ceremony that recently took place at London Guildhall, 580 specialists unveiled the selected resorts from over 35 destinations.

Two Mexican Caribbean resorts managed to secure a position: Hotel Esencia in Tulum and Chablé Yucatán, located in the Chocholá municipality, about a 25-minute drive from Mérida city.

With a perfect combination of sleek architecture, top-notch amenities, gourmet cuisine, and a breathtaking location, Chablé claimed the 13th place – even surpassing Hotel Esencia, which ranked 19th.

Given that the latter is renowned as one of the most luxurious properties in the region – formerly the home of an Italian duchess – this achievement is nothing short of remarkable.

That is not to say that Chablé hasn’t received its fair share of accolades, which include the Prix Versailles and The World Architecture Design Award.

So, let’s find out what exactly makes this secluded oasis so outstanding and what kind of luxuries you can expect during your stay.

A Paradise Of Luxury & Relaxation

The Yucatán region is a gold mine of history and traditions, and Chablé Yucatán pays homage to this heritage at every turn.

You can feel the deep Mayan connection in the resort’s architecture and décor, all crafted using locally sourced materials.

However, this resort isn’t exactly what you’d call ‘rustic’

Instead, Chablé combines tradition and modernity, seamlessly blending art, architecture, and technology with the lush Mayan jungle.

Featuring ample spaces, high ceilings, and expansive windows, the Villas are thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in an indoor-outdoor experience.

For an even more exclusive stay, you can book the ultra-luxurious Royal Villa. Combining colonial influences with modern styles, it showcases amenities such as three bedrooms, an outdoor hot tub, and a terrace with a private pool.

But the property’s second accommodation option, ‘Casitas,’ doesn’t fall behind in terms of luxury, also offering king-sized beds, both indoor and outdoor showers, and lavish bathrooms.

Chablé Spa Journeys

There’s perhaps no better embodiment of Chablé Yucatán’s deep connection to its Mayan heritage than its splendid spa.

Here, they offer three distinct experiences, known as ‘Chablé Spa Journeys,’ all of which are inspired by ancient Mayan practices and rituals, skillfully conducted by expert healers.

Take, for instance, the ‘Fountain of Youth’ treatment, which starts off with a ceremony at the spa’s very own cenote, followed by rejuvenating massages, and culminates in a soothing aromatherapy session.

Undoubtedly, Chablé Yucatán’s outstanding spa stands as one of the main reasons behind its recognition by the ‘50 Best’ list, which called it an ‘oasis of glamour and relaxation’ and praised the resort’s healing ceremonies.

Authentic Culinary Experiences

Mexico’s vibrant culinary traditions come to life at Chablé Yucatán’s two restaurants: Ixi’im, expertly curated by renowned chef Jorge Vallejo, and Xi’ol, where the focus leans toward healthier options.

A significant portion of the ingredients used in these dining venues are cultivated in the traditional Mayan gardens known as ka’anches.

Moreover, Ixi’im proudly boasts not only an exceptional wine cellar but also the world’s largest tequila collection.

So, whether you crave a fresh ceviche, traditional Mayan dishes like slow-cooked pork, or simply a refreshing cocktail, culinary experiences at Chablé are nothing short of exceptional.

A Collection Unique Activities

When you’re not unwinding at the spa or savoring mouthwatering dishes at the restaurants, a wide array of exciting and distinctive activities await you at Hotel Chablé.

From wellness retreats and yoga sessions to world-class golf courses, the possibilities are boundless.

Visit the property’s meliponarium, home to the Melipona bees, a stingless bee species native to the Yucatan Peninsula, held as a secret by the Mayans.

Here, you’ll witness an authentic Mayan honey collection ceremony guided by a local shaman. You can even craft honey and wax products during a bee workshop.

These are just a glimpse of the on-site activities, and given Hotel Chablé’s privileged location, you’ll find it easy to explore various archaeological sites and other Mexican Caribbean hotspots.

With its combination of luxury, nature, and ancient traditions, it’s clear that Hotel Chablé’s recognition as one of the world’s best is more than well-deserved.
