Families have been flocking to the Mexican Caribbean for years, and for good reason – who wouldn’t want their kids to have a vacation of a lifetime?

However, for those who don’t have them or who want a teeny, tiny break away from them, the words adult-only boutique hotel sound a lot like the word Disneyland to anyone aged beyond 21.

That is why this luxury hotel brand, which is bringing exactly that to the Riviera Maya next year, could be of interest to you…

To be called The Beachfront by The Fives Hotels and Residencies, this new location is expected to open in the spring of 2024.

It is situated on the exclusive beach of Xcalacoco and will be a mere 15 minutes away from downtown Playa Del Carmen, as well as relatively close to Cancun International Airport.

With the Mexican Caribbean travel industry booming, it seems as though new hotels and resorts are popping up all over the place, and not just to take advantage of business, but out of necessity, as occupancy levels began to grow extremely close to full in the summer vacation period in many areas.

Is The Riviera Maya Worth It?

For those who have only heard of Cancun whenever the Mexican Caribbean comes up in conversation, they will be shocked to find that when looking at what is most popular in terms of hotel bookings and reservations, it is in fact the Riviera Maya that leads with a rate of over 85% in 2023 so far.

The reason for its popularity is quite simple; this 80-mile-long stunning coastline that runs from Puerto Morelos to Tulum is home to sprawling all-inclusive resorts, secluded boutique hotels, and even glamping options, with the backdrop of luscious green flora and fauna, and the most stunning beaches in the world.

Talking Of Beaches…

Though Cancun is one of the top beach destinations ever, especially among Americans, some can find the countless rows of big, luxury hotels to feel somewhat overcrowded and a little too busy.

What makes The Riviera Maya stand out is how diverse the backdrop is; everything from jungle greenery, luscious vegetation, and palm trees galore, sitting on a beach here can feel like you truly are in a different part of the world entirely.

Feeling Cultured?

The history of the ancient Maya world still reverberates through the Riviera Maya, as it is in the region that is home to some incredible archeological sites in Tulum, Cobá, and Muyil.

There are also a total of 2,500 cenotes, which are semi-open underground caves that are believed to have been the doorway into the Mayan underworld and are today toured by visitors from all over the globe looking for a cool place to swim, snorkel, and dive.

That Mayan culture exists around every corner in the Riviera Maya and can be felt by talking to the people who live there, who are keen to keep it alive.

More Connected Than Ever

Getting to the Riviera Maya was once a little bit trickier than it is now and still takes more travel time when compared to the main tourist hotspot of Cancun.

Thankfully, now with the introduction of the Maya Train, a billion-dollar infrastructure project set to connect tourists all over the Yucatan Peninsula, reaching the destination will be easier than ever and will almost certainly bring with it a swathe of new tourists looking to experience its beauty.

So what are you waiting for? The words adults only sound pretty good to us right about now…
