Cancun has a lot of hotels and resorts to choose from, but that isn’t stopping large hotel companies from building more.

With the popularity of the destination growing so quickly, hotels are often nearly 100 percent occupied during the busiest seasons for tourism.

And now there will be more than 1,000 more rooms for Cancun tourists when a massive luxury resort complex in Cancun, called Grand Island Cancun, begins welcoming guests this fall.

Grand Island Cancun

The Grand Island Cancun resort complex is being developed in two stages, and the first one is expected to be completed this fall.

Estimates are that accommodations will begin being available sometime during the third quarter but with no exact dates set yet.

The Grand Island Resort complex is located on the Nichupte Lagoon but still within the famous Cancun Hotel Zone and within steps of one of the vacation destination’s most popular beaches, Playa Delfines.

Grand Island Cancun Amenities

The Grand Island Cancun resort complex is going to be packed with amenities that will make for an epic Cancun vacation.

A stunning crystal lagoon for water activities, a cinema, a world-class spa, a shopping center, a water park, and a beach club are just some of the amenities that will be shared among the resorts throughout the complex.

The complex itself is also going to have its own collection of eight restaurants and bars, tennis courts, a surfing pool, and its very own marina.

First Resorts To Open At Grand Island Cancun

There will be two resorts that are part of the first phase of the project that will open at Grand Island Cancun this fall.

Both resorts are operated by AM Resorts, one of which will be adult-only and the other a family-friendly resort.

These two resorts are the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island and the Dreams Grand Island, and some information about each has already been released.

@travelwhynot 📍Dreams Riveria by World of Hyatt in Cancún, Mexico Overall, I’d give it a 7/10. The Gulf was murky, so I didn’t want to swim in it and the food was a hit or miss. The service was amazing though! #traveltiktok #travelfyp #blackwomentravel #resortreview #cancunresorts #whynottravel ♬ Storytelling – Adriel

Hyatt Vivid Grand Island

The Hyatt Vivid Grand Island will be the adult-only all-inclusive that is part of the first phase of this massive project and is the first Hyatt Vivid resort to be built.

It will feature 400 spacious and comfortable guest rooms with unbelievable views.

Amenities will include beach and pool service, 24-hour in-room service, top-shelf beverages, and daily and nightly activities and entertainment, as well as access to the sister property, Dreams Grand Island.

Dreams Grand Island

Dreams Grand Island, the family-friendly option opening in the complex this fall, will be the larger of the two properties.

It will sit right next to the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island and will feature more than 600 rooms.

Between the two properties, nearly 20 dining options will be available and certain amenities will be available to guests of both resorts, including the beach club, pools, spa, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

Phase II Of The Grand Island Cancun Project

Phase II of the Grand Island Cancun project will include an additional 2,000 rooms and even more amenities to be shared between the entire property.

Some of the additional amenities include 10 additional restaurants, more outdoor and rooftop pools, and two nightclubs.

Phase II of the project is estimated to launch in 2024.

The Cancun Hotel Zone

While the Grand Island Cancun complex isn’t located right on the beach, Playa Delfines is only steps away from the complex.

Its location in the bustling Cancun Hotel Zone also puts guests in close proximity to all that Cancun has to offer.

But with all of the amenities the complex will have, there really will be no need to go anywhere else, as it is a one-stop shop for everything that makes Cancun the amazing vacation destination that it is.

When I talk to Unlimited vacation about the Dreams Grand Island which is stated to be next to Hyatt Vivid. They said they have no info....almost as if they don't know about any Dreams to be there. I booked for the Hyatt through them but I couldn't get a rate for Dreams. Reading above stated they opened in the fall. Hyatt doesn't open until April 2024. We are going in May. So is it a Dreama next door or not? Someone needs to contact AM resorts or the Unlimited Vacations about this.
