Top 5 Reasons The Mexican Caribbean Will Shatter All Tourism Records Over The Next Year

Last Updated

It’s no secret that the Mexican Caribbean is a go-to spot for travelers from around the world, and it’s honestly not hard to see why.

It has everything you could ever want from a vacation spot. Whether you’re looking for world-class beaches, legendary nightlife, or an unparalleled cultural scene, it’s got you covered.

As a result, the region is breaking record after record and will shatter all previous tourism records over the course of the next year.

Here are the top 5 reasons why:

Maya Train

The Maya Train is about to make the Mexican Caribbean an even more accessible destination for travelers, connecting the region’s hot spots and making journeys between them even faster and smoother than before.

The most typical modes of transport to get around the Yucatan Peninsula would be either hiring a car, taking a taxi, or hopping on a bus, but the Maya Train will allow travelers the benefit of affordable and easy access to traveling around the region, without the hassles of long bus journeys or costly taxis.

Journeys will also be significantly shorter, bypassing any risk of traffic or delays while giving you a glimpse of the stunning Mexican countryside along the way and allowing travelers to learn about the culture and history of the area.

You will be able to experience this incredible journey from as early as December 1 this year.

Tulum Airport

Along with the Maya Train project comes Tulum’s brand new International Airport, which will bring in travelers from North America and around the globe.

In conjunction with the Maya Train, the airport’s scheduled opening date will also be December 2023, just in time for peak season.

Tulum has grown from the quaint hippie-chic town it once was and is now a big hot spot for travelers on any budget.

Tulum is From the luxe beach clubs and resorts by the coast to the ever-growing town, which also serves as the hub for travelers visiting the nearby archeological sites, the cenotes, and also the beautiful Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve.

Tulum Airport will ease the pressure off Cancun’s busy airport and allow travelers for a quicker transit to the south of the Mexican Caribbean.

Number 1 Ranking Hotspot For American Travelers

It’s no surprise the Mexican Caribbean consistently ranks as the number one vacation spot for American travelers, and its popularity will only continue to soar.

Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, SAB de CV (ASUR) has reported that passenger traffic at Cancun Airport had a 6.6% increase this May compared to last May, which concludes just over 2.5 million people coming through the airport.

The natural beauty, history, and culture of Quintana Roo are a testament to its increase in visitors, and it is forecast to explode as we expect the arrival of the Maya Train and Tulum Airport; the region is going to become so much more accessible and even more appealing to travelers.

Slow Season Is A Thing Of The Past

The Mexican Caribbean is now an all-year-round destination – gone are the days of the slow season.

If you are heading there, you can expect a slightly more affordable vacation in the summer, but it’s heading towards it being a year-round vacation spot. Due to its growth in popularity, some travelers will be perhaps looking to avoid its peak season, and it will see a surge in visitors throughout the year.

The issues with the slower season were weather, fewer activities, and more limited flight options.

With Tulum Airport and the Maya Train, plus the Mexican government investing in improving the transport and infrastructure of the region, it looks like tourism is about to get a boost, and things are about to change in the Mexican Caribbean.

Infrastructure Improvements And Airport E-Gates

Introducing Tulum Airport and brand new e-gates at Cancun International Airport will mean quicker access in and out of the country, removing all the hassle of the outdated infrastructure that once was hindering travelers’ visits.

The e-gate installation uses biometric technology, which will make the whole immigration process way more efficient, and will massively reduce visitor’s waiting times.

The Mexican government has also invested heavily in roads, infrastructure, and various projects, including highways and roundabouts from Cancun and beyond, which has and will further help reduce travel time getting in and out of Cancun.

With the expansion of terminals, new shops, restaurants, and activities for travelers, the Mexican Caribbean is exponentially growing, and the government’s efforts are helping to further boost tourism and the local economy and make it an even more hassle-free and memorable vacation experience.
