It won’t be long before tourists can start riding the Maya Train to get to all kinds of destinations in the Mexican Caribbean and throughout the Yucatan Peninsula.
Travelers flying into Cancun will have the added benefit of being able to hop on a train without even having to leave the airport because the Cancun Maya Train station is on the airport property.
But for those who will be staying in Cancun but want to visit another destination during their trip, there will be other options, as two new Maya Train transfer stations for Cancun were just announced.
The Addition Of Transfer Stations In Busy Areas
The Maya Train station located at the Cancun Airport will no doubt be super convenient for travelers flying in and going directly to another destination along the train route.
But for those whose main vacation destination is Cancun, but they want to spend a day sightseeing outside of the city, it isn’t very practical to cab it back to the airport, considering the price of a taxi ride.
The addition of the two transfer stations, which will bus tourists to the train station, makes it much more reasonable.

The Transfer Stations
The two transfer stations that have been announced will be located in two busy areas of Cancun.
The first is in the center of town at a location between Lopez Portillo and Kabah Avenues.
The second will be the more convenient option for tourists, as it will be located in Plaza Las Americas in downtown Cancun, which is not too far outside of the Hotel Zone.
According to reports, there will likely be more transfer stations to follow in the future.

What The Transfer Stations Mean For Cancun Tourists
With the addition of the transfer stations, visitors will be able to make last-minute decisions about visiting other destinations.
Rather than go right from the airport to another destination, travelers can spend time in Cancun and then go somewhere else to spend time, without paying a fortune to get back to the train station.
This adds both convenience and practicality when it comes to utilizing the Maya Train for sightseeing.

The Cancun Airport Maya Train Station
Once the Maya Train operations get underway, travelers who arrive at Cancun Airport will have the option of getting on a train at the airport to go to other destinations.
The Cancun Airport Maya Train Station will be located on the airport property and will utilize electric vehicles to get passengers to and from the train station.
This will allow tourists to go from airport arrival to train station in under 10 minutes.
Nearby Destinations Along The Maya Train Route
One of the great things about the Maya Train is that it isn’t just for long-haul destinations.
There are plenty of nearby destinations that tourists can hop on the train to spend a day at and then return to Cancun.
Some of the closest places to visit are Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Akumal, Tulum, and a little more inland, the Magic Town of Valladolid.

How Fast Tourists Can Get To Other Destinations
The Maya Train will no doubt be a faster way for tourists to get around the Mexican Caribbean and Yucatan Peninsula.
The train will move at the speed of around 100 miles per hour.
Going at that speed, tourists can travel from Cancun all the way to Palenque in around six hours.
What Travelers Can Expect To Pay To Ride The Train
The pricing for tickets for the Maya Train has yet to be finalized.
Estimates are that it will cost around $50-$60 for tourists to ride the train.
Unfortunately, there are very few details regarding how far that will get you, but official pricing is expected to be announced at the beginning of December, just before the start of operations on the 15th.
