Why You Should Book Ahead When Using The Maya Train At Cancun Airport

After years in the making, the Maya Train has finally begun running its services for tourists and locals, and what a first month it has been.

The region, which has seen a tourist boom like no other these past few years, had previously been crying out for a reliable and affordable public transport service to help everybody experience the greatness that it offers.

Now that it has exactly that, one thing is for certain: the Maya Train is already quickly becoming especially popular for transferring tourists to and from their hotel destinations and the airport, offering a much more affordable option than private transfer or taxi service.

The scenic train runs on a loop around the Yucatan Peninsula set to be fully operational in February, traveling through popular tourist hotspots such as Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, as well as other lesser-known destinations, but it is Cancun Airport that is currently the busiest.

Much like clockwork at this point, Cancun sees millions of tourists arrive on its doorstep through each busy winter season, all looking for a slice of that hot Mexican sun.

Cancun Airport is undoubtedly the busiest in the region, running close to 700 flights a day in some instances during peak times.

With it being one of the most popular destinations for travelers, especially Americans, this can bring with it overcrowding and busyness, making it more difficult than usual to leave the airport and reach their hotel destination.

Cancun Airport’s new Maya Train station has been reported to be the busiest out of all the new routes that are currently in operation, seeing a total of 4,208 passengers use the service.

Followed by San Francisco de Campeche, Merida Teya, and Valladolid, it is clear that the demand for the service is strong, transferring 800 passengers daily up and down the region with only a few hiccups and altercations.

Some tourists were let down during the opening week, however, as the train had been sold to capacity, leaving many without the chance to purchase a ticket and having to use another service to travel altogether.

That is why we highly recommend you plan your transfer early and book tickets for the Maya Train if you wish to use it between the airport.

Not only will it give you peace of mind, but it might just leave you with more cash in your wallet than having to book a taxi last minute to your desired destination.

Tickets are just as easily bought at the station itself if you want to take the chance, but as the hype around it continues to grow, we would advise the former.

Confirmation Of Final Maya Train Sections This February

Section 5 of the Maya Train has been given the final green light and will soon be in operation, allowing travelers to explore several highly popular archeological sites in the Yucatan Peninsula and connecting tourists from Cancun Airport to Tulum

Section 6 of the Maya Train is set to connect Tulum with Chetumal, a cultural hub and state capital of Quintana Roo.

And finally, Section 7 will connect Chetumal with Escarcega, Chetumal, thus completing the entire Maya Train route and bringing it into full operation.

Andres Manual Lopez Obrador has promised that all sections will be completed by February 2024, finally allowing passengers to experience the hidden gems and extraordinary sites that the Yucatan Peninsula has to offer.

Above is your article I copied and pasted. The capitalized "HERE" is the referenced click in the original to access the site to purchase tickets. There is no direct reference for Tren Maya. If a query is presented a notification is presented that essentially says "There is no event present"

This is not the first time your newspaper and its journalist just regurgitate other sources of information with out verifying its accuracy.

Thanks for the comment. The location to purchase tickets recently changed, rendering the link no longer valid. We have updated the link.

It would be nice to reserve the train ahead of time based on your airport arrival…except you never know what time you’ll get out of there. Between 30 min to 90 min for customs then another hour to three hours for your luggage…one cannot count on a time when flying to one the most inconsistent airports in the world.

@PCBytown,If possible, stick with ADO. I personally have to go to Sf d Campeche (8 hours). I take the ADO shuttle to the main station. ADO has a kiosk just before the exit. When I am thru immigration, I access the ADO app on my phone and purchase my tickets for the shuttle and trip to Campeche.

The Tren Maya holds promise for me if the MX army gets their act together.

The following are the immediate critical issues # 1. Convenient method to purchase tickets. # 2. Frequent train schedules. # 3.Local and state governments set taxi fares to train station within each local.
