Who knew a simple bus ride could be so popular? Well, folks heading to the sunny shores of Cancun are certainly loving the new, budget-friendly bus service connecting the airport to the Hotel Zone. Operated by ADO, this shuttle, which costs a mere 140 pesos – that’s about seven US dollars – has seen its popularity absolutely skyrocket since it launched back in February.

Cancun Airport's $7 Bus is a Hit! Demand Soars for Hotel Zone Shuttle

Elpidio Valencia Palomares, the commercial operations manager at Mobility ADO, sounds pretty thrilled with how things are going. He mentioned that in February, when they first rolled out the service, they were already helping around 1,000 travelers get from Cancún International Airport to their hotels. Not bad for starters, right?

But then word got out. Following a public announcement in March, the number of passengers jumped to nearly 2,500. And get this – by April, that figure had climbed to over 3,000! Valencia says the demand for this convenient shuttle service has been steadily increasing, and it’s easy to see why.

New $7 Bus Shuttle Launches From Cancun Airport To Hotel Zone

For those landing at Terminals 2, 3, and 4 of the bustling Cancun airport, hopping on this bus is a breeze. For just 140 pesos, you’ll be dropped off right in the heart of the Hotel Zone at Plaza Fiesta. Talk about convenient! From there, many hotels and attractions are within easy reach.

Because so many people are taking advantage of this great deal, ADO has had to step up its game. They’ve increased the number of daily departures from six to nine. Now, you can catch the bus every hour between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., making it even easier to get to your hotel without breaking the bank.

This new service is a welcome addition to Cancun’s transportation options. As Governor Mara Lezama pointed out when it was launched back in March, it aims to provide a safer, more efficient, and comfortable way for both tourists and locals to travel. With concerns about “pirate taxis” and inflated fares sometimes popping up, a reliable and fairly priced option like this bus service offers peace of mind to visitors.

The collaboration between the airport operator, Grupo Asur, and the well-known bus company ADO seems to be paying off big time. This $7 bus is clearly hitting the sweet spot for travelers looking for an affordable and hassle-free way to start their Cancun vacation. It’s a win-win for everyone!
